Beautify Farmington Program
about the program:
A special thank you to our Founding Sponsor, Farmington Garden Club.
In 2014 The Farmington Garden Club and the Economic Development Commission partnered on a beautification project, to bring Summer flowers to Farmington. Modeled after Farmington's successful Annual Holiday Kissing Ball Program, we contracted with Winterberry Gardens, to install and maintain beautiful Summer flowering baskets, along the DiPietro Memorial Bridge, and through Unionville Center. The Summer flowering baskets and Winter holiday balls have become a Farmington tradition; so much so, that The Hartford Courant listed the flowers, in an article entitled, "Ten Ways You Know You Are From Farmington."
The flowers not only help us create a sense of place and community, but many studies have been conducted, and have proven that landscaping is one of the most cost-effective tools, for improving and sustaining the quality of life, whether in the city, the suburbs, or the country. Public and commercial landscapes have a major influence on our environment, and on people’s actions and attitudes. Greening of business districts increases community pride, and adds a positive perception of an area, drawing customers to businesses, and our town.
The funding for these flowers is raised right here, in the community, by business and community sponsors. Please consider joining this worthwhile community effort.
